Timothy Calvin Evans

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Timothy Calvin Evans, age 66, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Five Oaks Manor, Concord, NC after a period of declining health. He was born December 12, 1946 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Ruth Mae Cornell Evans of Ohio and the late Calvin Coolidge Evans. Tim was employed with Butler Telecom, Irving, Texas for 17 years before retiring to move to North Carolina. He was of the Methodist faith. Tim was proud of his service record having served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He loved going to the ocean and visiting the mountains, but he had a special love for motorcycles. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Richard Graf. The U.S. Navy will perform military honors at the service. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 46 years; Sybil Powell Evans; one son, Damien S. Evans of Kannapolis, NC; one daughter, Melanie A. Evans of Salisbury, NC; one half-sister, Beth Gilliam of Nashville, TN; one sister, Patricia Goughenour of Ohio; two brothers, Mike Evans and Ted Evans, both of Ohio; step-mother, Charlotte Evans of Alabama; three grandchildren, Cody Evans, Tiffany Porter & husband, Alex, and Brittany Lee; his sister-in-law, Juanita Powell of Cary, NC; six nephews; two nieces; and his grand-dog, Scotty. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Music Ministry of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, 101 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
