Obituary: Timothy Lynn Kennerly, 67 of Kannapolis, died Friday, March 23, 2012 at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House following a brief period of declining health. Tim was born on May 31, 1944 in Cabarrus County, NC, a son of the late Emmett and Martha Goodnight Kennerly. Tim was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School where he was a member of the football team and the wrestling team and later graduated from Evans Business College. He started working part time for Boddie-Noell Enterprises and retired with the company 37 years later as an executive vice-president. Following retirement he moved back to Kannapolis from Rocky Mount to be close to his children. He supported and actively participated in the beautification of A.L. Brown High School and surrounding neighborhoods. He was a member of the Boosters Club, the city of Kannapolis Board of Adjustors, and the "Society of Extraordinary Men" at Centerview "The Club" Hardware. Tim is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Lamb Kennerly, five children, Mimi Correll (Kelly), Britton Kennerly and Brian Kennerly (Jenny) all of Kannapolis, Shannon Gray (Mark) of Concord, and Paige Kennerly of Charleston, SC, 9 grandchildren, Ryan, Magen, Brittany, Bethany, Braden, Grayson, Murphy, Bryson, and Riley, 1 great grandchild, Cobee, a sister, Melody Kennerly Correll (Gene), a brother Eric Kennerly both of Kannapolis and also leaves behind a million friends. The family will receive friends at their residence from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Private services will be held at a later date.
