Obituary: Tommy Gene Anderson, 71, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at CMC-NE in Concord after a period of declining health. His funeral service will be at 2:30 PM Saturday, May 12 at Genesis Baptist Church, with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at the church on Saturday, at other times they will be at the family residence. Tommy was born August 3, 1940 in Cabarrus Co. NC, a son of the late J. T. and Ruby Bracken Anderson. He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from A. L. Brown High School in 1959. Tommy was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the Army Reserve. He worked for Cannon Mills Co. for 25 years and then worked as a corrections officer for Piedmont Correctional Facility until he retired in 2003. Tommy was a member of Genesis Baptist Church. He loved his church and his family and enjoyed fishing. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Faye Hollar Anderson of the family home, his daughters; Tonya Anderson Burris of Kannapolis and Tiffany Anderson Esquer(Michael) of China Grove and his step-son, Tommy Martin of China Grove and step-daughter, Wendy Miranda of Birmingham AL, his grandchildren are Leslie, Kristen and Brooke Burris; Jake and Jordan Martin and Collin Esquer and great-grandchild, Jaycee Snow. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne Anderson (Jean) of China Grove.
