Tommy Rand Drye

Obituary: Tommy Rand Drye, 68, of Concord passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at CMC-NE. He was born August 5, 1948 in Rowan Co. to the late Joe Hartsell Drye and Margaret Wensil Drye. Tommy was educated in Mt Pleasant schools. He served three years in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam, and soon after he joined the U.S. Navy for two more years as a Sea Bee. During his service he received several metals and a Purple Heart. After his service Tommy worked construction for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved working in his garden. He was preceded in death by a brother Joe W. Drye and a nephew Christopher Scott Drye. Those left to cherish his memory include his sister Linda Smith (Rusty), two nieces Brandi Smith, Stacy Smith Herring (Doug) and their children Avery and Ian Herring all of Rockwell. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 15, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church cemetery in Rimertown, with Pastor Rafe Allison officiating, and Military Honors.
