Obituary: Tommy Reid Kinney of Kannapolis went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. He was the son of the late Wilbur and Mittie Varner Kinney. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Claudia Jones Kinney, his daughter Julie K. Miller, son-in-law Jeff Miller. His two grandchildren, McKenzie Taylor Miller and Grayson Ryder Miller; his sister Arlene Odum all of Kannapolis; along with several nieces and nephews. He was born on October 26, 1934. He served his country with pride with the United States Navy. He loved the Lord and his family. He was a hard worker where he was employed at Cannon Mills for 35 years in the #6 weave room as a loom fixer. He also enjoyed working in his garden on Moose Rd. He cherished the memories and friendships he made there. The funeral service for Mr. Kinney will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 27th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Mike Edwards. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4:00 before the service. At other times they will be at the residence.
