Tony Miller Harrington, 84 of Kannapolis passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at Salisbury VA Community Living Center. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s he is now at peace.
A graveside service to celebrate Tony’s life will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove at 3:00 PM Wednesday April 19 with Pastor David Franks officiating. His family will receive friends after the graveside service at his residence, 1042 Westlake Dr. in Kannapolis.
Tony was born December 3, 1938, in Cabarrus Co., the son of the late Vick I. and Arlene Miller Harrington. In addition to his parents, Tony was also preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Harrington.
Tony was a lifelong area resident, raised in Landis and a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He graduated from Landis High School in 1957 and attended NC State for 2 years before being drafted into the US Army in 1961. He was a 3-year veteran of the Army, serving 1 year in Vietnam. After the war he graduated from Catawba College and worked for IBM, National Welders Supplies and then as the owner of Landis Supply and Outdoor Power. Tony had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, woodworking and welding.
Tony is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rhonda Talbert Harrington of the home. Those also remaining to cherish his memory include his sons, Mark and Mat Harrington, his grandsons, Wesley Kyle Harrington, Tony Jacob (T.J.) Harrington, John Delane Harrington and his granddaughter, Megan E. Harrington.
Family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in his name to The W. G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Ave. Salisbury NC 28144 to help his fellow vets.
