Tony Ray Martin

Tony Ray Martin, 77, of Kannapolis passed away February 8, 2023, at his home. His death was unexpected.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday February 13, 2023, at Carolina Memorial Park with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. His family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.

Tony was born Dec. 20, 1945, in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late Willard Ray and Bamblee Newton Martin. In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Sechler Martin and his brothers Willie Joe and Gene Payne and his sister Lake Payne.

Tony was an active member of Genesis Baptist Church. He was a hard-working man. He started working at age 15. Tony worked many years at Cannon Mills in several positions and later for Forbo in Huntersville, retiring in 2019. Tony enjoyed golf and tinkering with golf clubs. He loved taking his family to the beach and spending time with them. Tony was known for his sense of humor and making people laugh. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother. Tony will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his sons, Brad Martin of Kannapolis, Scott Martin (Aprille) of Salisbury, two grandsons, Colby and Calin Martin, great granddaughter, Lily Martin and his brother Bill Martin of Kannapolis.
