Tony Lee Williams

Tony Lee "Jivey" Williams, age 67, of China Grove, passed away March 15, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Tony was born on April 7, 1954 in Mooresville to James Lee Williams of Concord and June Medlin Hartsoe of Kannapolis. Tony is preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude Herman Medlin and Gussie Inez Medlin.

Tony is survived by his mother June Hartsoe of China Grove and his sister Anita "Tammy" Corriher of Kannapolis, his nephew Ivan Corriher of China Grove and his niece Kayla Corriher of Salisbury and several cousins.

Tony was a lifelong area resident and graduate of A. L. Brown High School. After graduation, Tony worked as a supervisor in the sheet metal dept. at Cannon Mills. He then sold real estate and later became an accomplished car salesman and sales trainer. In later years, Tony worked as a captain on casino boats on the Atlantic Coast. Tony always loved music and was an avid dancer. He played drums in several bands. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and especially loved being on his sail boat. Throughout his life, Tony was a musician, mill worker, salesman, sailor, pilot and captain. He was outgoing, fun-loving, ambitious and funny. He never met a stranger.

A celebration of his life will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, March 20 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday, before the service. At other times the family will be at his mother's home in China Grove.
