Tracy Mechelle Brown

Tracy Mechelle Brown, 53, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2025. A treasured wife, mother, and dog lover; she will always be remembered for her deep affection for her family, friends, and the beach. 

Born on January 31, 1971 to Randall and Shirley Pierce in Cabarrus County and had one sister, Lisa. She graduated from South Rowan in 1989 and went on to marry her husband, Shane. They were blessed with their son, Devin. She loved her family fiercely and enjoyed watching Devin play baseball and race even though the latter would scare the bejesus out of her. Tracy’s, dachunds Bella and Scarlett, and her granddog, Nova, always held a special place in her heart. 

Ms. Tracy worked at the VA (veterans affairs) as a purchasing agent assistant in the final leg of her career and then retired to begin to enjoy her favorite things. She loved baking  chocolate pies and cooking spaghetti until Devin was sick of eating it. Traveling to Myrtle Beach with her family to hunt for sharks’ teeth was another of her favorite traditions. 

Preceded in death by her grandparents, Floyd (Rachel) Pierce and Joel (Mary) Goodnight, her father, Randall and was blessed with two loving mothers, Shirley and Susan Pierce, as well as her brother-in-law, Daniel Robinson. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 34 years Shane Brown; son Devin (Morganne). Her sister Lisa (Jerry) Lovelace. Aunts and uncles, Candace (Gene) Pierce, Ann Barnhardt, Jo Dishman, and Tony Goodnight. Cousins Angie Price, Callie Haris,C. Shelby Pierce, Beth Fagan, Matthew Goodnight, Anthony Goodnight. She was blessed with several beloved nieces, nephews, and so many friends she held so close they may as well have been family. 

A service to celebrate Tracy’s life will be held on Saturday February 1st, at Whitley’s Funeral Home of Kannapolis. Visitation starting at 11:00am with a chapel service at 12:00, burial to follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
