Obituary: KANNAPOLIS - Troy Lee Absher, 94, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday May 22, 2009 at Carillon Assisted Living of Harrisburg. He had been in declining health for two years. He was born September 29, 1914 in Wilkes County, the son of the late Arthur and Mary Jane Miller Absher. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers: Alfred, Ervin and Muncie Absher and 4 sisters: Effie Absher, Margie Watkins, Rebecca Thompson, and Emma Jane Marshall. He had retired from Cannon Mills Co Plant 4 Weave Room after 43 years. He was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church where he had been a former deacon. He was a veteran of US Army serving in WW II. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Monday at Franklin Heights Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jim Grigg. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home prior to the service. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mabel Hatmaker Absher, his son Randy (Betty) Absher of Harrisburg, his daughter Judy (Ralph) Carestio of Allen, Tx. , grandchildren: Jacob Absher, Rodney Honeycutt and Stacy Honeycutt Champagne; step grandchildren: Julie Carlinnia, Dan and Bill Carestio; great grandchildren Zachary and Wesley Honeycutt; Nick and Mallory Champagne, step great grandchildren Mira and Ella Carlinnia, Mitchell and Jackson Carestio, 3 brothers: Howard, Grant and Arthur Junior Absher all of Kannapolis, 2 sisters: Leanner Foster of Forest City and Reba Elledge of N.
