Truman Upright

Obituary: Truman "Bruce" Upright, 78, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Tucker Hospice House, following an extended illness. Born February 15, 1937 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Stuart C. and Gladys Nesbitt Upright. Bruce had retired from Genuine Parts Company (NAPA), in Charlotte, after 29 years of service and was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Newsome, and brothers, John, Carl and Pete Upright. Family members left with cherished memories include his wife of 58 years, Kathryn Beaver Upright; his daughters, Sandra Upright Lambert of Mooresville and Robin Upright of Kannapolis; son, Tracy Bruce Upright (Lisa), of Albemarle; granddaughters, Amber U. Black (Russ) and Holly Lambert; his grandsons, Taylor Bruce Upright and Brandon Concepcion (Megan); great-granddaughters, Addison Black and Maci Concepcion. A loving and supportive husband and family man, Bruce will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends Friday evening 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Upright will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 22, 2015, at North Kannapolis Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Chris O'Guin, pastor. Burial will follow in Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
