Valerie S. Correll

Obituary: Landis- Valerie Sowers Correll passed away on July 30, 2016 at Liberty Commons in Salisbury surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Correll was born August 16, 1924 to Rufus Sowers and Vernie Beaver Sowers. She retired in 1986 after 33 years of service with Concord Telephone Company as an operator. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great- grandchildren. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served in many ways. For many years, she coordinated semi-annual Red Cross Blood drives, served on the church's Homecoming Committee and help prepare meals for funerals and in other areas of the church. Preceding her in death along with her parents was her husband Keller Correll, her three loving sons, Keller Wayne Correll, William Roger Correll and Lee Jan Correll. Sister Audrey Wilhelm. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Diane Eller and husband Michael of Oak Island and Jill Earnhardt and husband Tommy of China Grove. Her grandchildren, Kelly Surratt (Todd), Bradley Walton (Nancy), Jocelyn Tranum (Scott), Brandon Earnhardt (Lani), Carey Correll, Karie Houck(Andy) and Justin Correll. Her great-grandchildren, Justin and Jadin Surratt, Maddux Earnhardt, Nolan Houck and Lauren and Will Tranum. She is also survived by nieces, a nephew and many close loving family and friends. Visitation and Services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Landis. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of her life at 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Funeral Meal Fund, 108 Rice Street, Landis, N.C. 28088.
