Venita Marie (Phillips) Sims

Venita Marie Phillips Sims, 72, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 22, 2023 at her residence. She was in declining health but death was unexpected.

Venita was born August 7, 1950 in Cabarrus County, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ray Gibbons Sims, Jr. on November 24, 2022.

She attended Friendship Baptist Church. Venita was a supervisor at Lowe’s Home Improvement in the paint department until her retirement. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to cook.

Family members surviving include a son, Brian Sims, daughter, Michelle Honeycutt and husband Fred of Kannapolis, four grandchildren; Corey Honeycutt, Tyler Honeycutt , Xavier Sims and Anthony Sims, two great-great grandchildren, Harrison and Hayes Honeycutt and a brother, Charles Phillips of Concord.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 28, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Chapel.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
