Vera Elizabeth Eller Holbrook

Obituary: Vera Elizabeth Eller Holbrook, age 89, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a period of declining health. She was born April 20, 1925 in Rowan County, NC, the daughter of the late Ernest Robert Eller and Mary Lou Hamilton Eller. Vera was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant #1 Packaging Dept. for many years until her retirement. Vera was a former member of New Hope Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC. Her family fondly remembers her love of cooking for her various family members and their friends. She loved and cared for all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren as well as other people's children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie David (Dave) Holbrook; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Lauren Annis; four brothers, and three sisters. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. David Franks. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her daughter, Diane Epting of Kannapolis, NC; a son, C.D. Holbrooks & wife, Sheryl of Angier, NC; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Gibson Halstenberg & husband, Bill; Lisa Gibson Morris & husband, Wayne; Leslie Gibson Hudson; Linny David Gibson; Kim Holbrook Annis & husband, Mark; Michelle Holbrook Coughlin; two step-grandchildren, Jeremy Byrum & wife, Rita and Casey Mason & wife, Dawn; fourteen great-grandchildren, seven & one-half great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Eller Earnhardt of Kernersville, NC; and a number of nieces & nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses & staff of Tucker Hospice House for their devoted love & care of our mother during this most difficult time in our lives.
