Verna Gray (Register) Goodman

Verna Gray Register Goodman, 91, of China Grove, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 19, 2023.

Verna was born on August 27, 1931 to the late Raleigh Register and Lizzie Register. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Henry Goodman and nine of her siblings.

Verna was a dearly loved lady who was always selfless and compassionate to others. She enjoyed attending senior dances and working outside in her yard. She was a faithful and long-time member of Landis Baptist Church. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cindy Deaton; grandsons, Michael (Curtis) Deaton and Aaron Deaton; brother, Edwin (Patricia) Register, and sister-in-laws, June Goodman and Edna Register.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Austin officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
