Obituary: Verneice Murphy Brawley, 90, of Mooresville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at her sister's residence. She was born October 6, 1925 in Alexander County, NC a daughter of the late Ousie Lee and Sarah Powell Murphy. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Brawley who died July 16, 1990. She was also preceded in death by three brothers; Hoyt Murphy, Alfred Murphy and Harland Murphy and one sister Allie Alley. Survivors include two brothers; Duard Murphy and Larry Murphy (Edie), and six sisters; Dico Wilhelm, Billie Davis, Nat McCorkle, Willaree McDuffie, Gale Stack (Tony) and Vivian Murphy. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Verneice was a graduate of Landis High School. She was an inspector in the wash cloth dept., Plant #1 of Cannon Mills for 35 years. She was an active member of Unity United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. For many years she was a loving caregiver to her family and to her friends. The family will receive friends at Unity United Methodist Church from1:30 P.M.-2:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 12, 2016. A graveside service will follow in Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday conducted by Rev. Tim Whittington.
