Obituary: Vernon Lee Huffstickler, 75, of Kannapolis, NC died at CMC-NorthEast in Concord, NC on Monday, September 12, 2016. Vernon was born on June 10, 1941 in Gold Hill, NC the son of the late John Harvey Huffstickler and the late Jessie Lee Sizemore Huffstickler. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Stegall Huffstickler; a son, Lewis Witherspoon; a daughter, Lois McKnight; brothers and sister, Ray, James, Ralph, and Billy Huffstickler and Ruby Brock. It has been stated that Vernon was the most humble guy God ever put on earth. He was a member of Eva Dr. Baptist Church in Concord, had worked for Bangle Brothers/Shogren Hosiery Mill, D. M. Bowman and also with Thurston Motor Lines. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bonnie Huffstickler, his children; Beverly Williams (Jeff), Teresa Huffstickler (Kurt), Tony Cohrs (Yvonne), Kay Witherspoon and Diane Larkin; seven grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The service for Mr. Huffstickler will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, Sep. 16, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Pastor Keith Navey. Burial will take place at West Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night, Sep. 15th at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times will be at the home of a daughter, Beverly Williams, 106 Hemlock Ave., Kannapolis.
