Obituary: Mr. Vernon Paskell Queen, 97, of 508 West 7th St., Kannapolis, NC died at CMC-NE in Concord, NC on Saturday, February 13, 2010. Mr. Queen was born on April 28, 1912 in Gaston County, the son of Ed Queen and Mary Abernathy Queen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marshall Queen who died in 1992. He was a veteran of WW 2 serving with the U.S. Army. He retired in 1982 as a Fixer from Cannon Mills after 51 years of service. He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 8989. A Graveside Service for Mr. Queen will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Funeral Home in Kannapolis from 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, Feb. 15th. At other times they will be at the residence. Mr. Queen is survived by 2 Grandsons and 4 Great Grandchildren.
