Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Vinson Leroy Bedenbaugh, age 88, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 ay Carolinas Healthcare System-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a short illness. He was born August 20, 1927 in Saluda County, SC, the son of the late John Preston Bedenbaugh and Florence Lily Harmon Bedenbaugh. He moved to Kannapolis, NC in 1948 to work in the mill. Vinson was employed at the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, as a pipe fitter for many years. Later, he worked for the Atlantic American Properties as a plumber until his retirement. He was also a member of the Nazarene faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was thought of by many as a Godly man and a good neighbor. He loved his family deeply and spoke with his brother, Gerney, by telephone on every Tuesday. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Bedenbaugh; his daughter, Sharon Taylor; three brothers; and one sister. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Parrish Dodd. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military rites. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include two brothers, Gerney Bedenbaugh of Piedmont, SC and Coy Bedenbaugh of Lexington, SC; his sister, Cathline Riley of Newberry, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
