Violet G. “Penny” Jones Linker, 87, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully at home, Sunday October 13, 2019.
Born January 11, 1932 to the late Joe and Bell Jones, Penny was raised in the mill village of Kannapolis with brothers Floyd, Howard and Larry (all deceased) and her precious baby sister, Claudia Kinney of Kannapolis. Raised during the Depression Era by mill-working parents, Penny learned to value family and home. Though she became a nurse at middle age and worked for many years, her primary life’s work was caring for her family and home. She was a wonderful cook and baker, making memories with grandchildren and great grandchildren, teaching them to make her special creme-filled oatmeal cookies.
Penny was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband Everette Guy Linker and son David.
Those left to cherish her memory include son, Danny (Janice) of Ennice, NC, daughters, Cindy (Chuck) Huie and Rebecca Boan of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren, David Scott (Shelly) Linker of Concord, Calli (Charlie) Plott of China Grove, Matthew (Molly) Linker of Sparta, NC, Lauren Linker of Kannapolis, NC, Haley (Damon) Barham of Raleigh, Ryan (Natalie) Huie of Kannapolis, Madison Boan of Kannapolis; five great-grandchildren, Jeffery, Christopher, and Lindsay Linker; Lynlee and Lainey Plott; special niece, Julie (Jeff) Miller and family of Kannapolis.
A graveside Celebration of Life service was held Thursday at Carolina Memorial Park.
