Virgie Absher

Obituary: Virgie Almarie Elledge "Mom" Absher, 96, of Kannapolis went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday December 20, 2013 at Big Elm Retirement & Nursing Center after an extended period of declining health. She was born on March 31, 1917 the daughter of the late John Carr Elledge and the late Elizabeth Hincher Elledge in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Her death was 3 years to the day of the death of her Grandson Todd Hyde. Educated in the Wilkes County schools. She loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Services will be held on Monday December 23, 2013 at 1:30pm at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry W. Bost officiating. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends on Monday December 23, 2013 from 12:00pm - 1:30pm. At all other times the family will at the home of daughter Brenda Carpenter. In addition to her parents and grandson, she was preceded in death by her husband Claude Absher in March 1987. Survivors include daughters; Brenda Carpenter of Kannapolis and Margie Norman of Wilkesboro. Son; A. Wayne Absher of North Wilkesboro. 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 7 great- great- grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
