Virgie Blackwelder Leebrick

Obituary: Virgie Blackwelder Leebrick, 85, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health. Virgie was born April 9, 1929 in Iredell County, NC a daughter of the late F.O. and Ruth Cannon Blackwelder. She was a member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church. In early life she played the piano and sang at the church. She retired from the data processing center at Cannon Mills with over thirty years of service. She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Ed Jackson. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-3:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at their respective residences. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Thomas Ray Leebrick who died on January 7, 2015. Survivors include two sons, Dana Thomas Leebrick (Wanda) of Apex, NC and Chris Leebrick (Pat) of Kannapolis and one grandson, Ryan Thomas Leebrick of Apex.
