Obituary: Virgie O. Linker, 84, passed away peacefully Friday morning, December 8, 2017 at Woodhaven Court of Albemarle. Born December 25, 1932 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Howard and Myrtle Irene Cox Overcash. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert B. Linker and a granddaughter Brandie Freeman. Mrs. Linker had been a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. A member of Glorieta Baptist Church, she had taught Sunday school, been a choir member and active with the women's missionary group. She was an expert seamstress and enjoyed cooking for church functions. Virgie had also been very active with the cooperative extension service, holding several offices, including president. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family members include her children Fred McGinnis (Shelia), Robin Noah (Jeff) and Bobbie Clarke; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Linker will held at 10 am Monday, December 11th at Glorieta Baptist Church, conducted by Pastors Nathan Brooks and Robert Leonard. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 or to Glorieta Baptist Church, 4912 NC-73, Concord, NC 28025.
