Obituary: Virginia "Jenny" Melton Gibson, 83, of Supply, formerly of Kannapolis, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Bolivia, NC. Born December 12, 1932 in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Brutus LeRoy and Annie Gertrude Coker Melton. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were 6 brothers, a sister, a granddaughter Melissa Thatcher and a great grandson Caleb Rankin. Mrs. Gibson had retired from Cannon Mills after more than 35 years of loyal service. Following her retirement, the Gibson's moved to Holden Beach, where Jenny enjoyed surf fishing with her husband and family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and child of God, Mrs. Gibson will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 14th, from 11:00-1:00 at Second Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Jenny's life will begin at 1:00 pm, conducted by Pastors LeRoy Martin and Eric Gibson. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery. Family members left with cherished memories include her husband of 62 years, William "Monk" Gibson; her daughter Patricia Elaine Gibson of Kannapolis; her sons William "Randy" Gibson (Ann) of Kannapolis and Pastor Eric Lee Gibson (Darlene) of Holden Beach; her grandchildren Tracy Hull (Michael), Susan Pearson, Stephanie Miller, Eric Gibson, Jr. and Derek Gibson; 6 great-grandchildren and extended family.
