Obituary: Virginia E. Jones, 68 of Kannapolis passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at her residence. She was born August 12, 1945 in Chesterfield County, SC, a daughter of the late John McCoy and Bertha Jewette Jenkins. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Jones who passed away January 17, 2012. She was formerly employed by Cannon Mills and had worked as an aide at a senior care center. Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 12:00 PM today (Friday), December 20, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Rev. Leonard Ewing and Rev. Ronnie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home one hour prior to the services from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm today. She is survived by her son; Ricky Wayne Jenkins of California, brothers; Donald Jenkins and wife Bonnie of Kannapolis, Joseph Jenkins and wife Pam of Gastonia and Broadus Jenkins of Kannapolis and several nieces and nephews.
