Virginia Smith Maxwell

Obituary: Virginia Flora Smith Maxwell, 86, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Caremoor Retirement Center in Kannapolis. Mrs. Maxwell was born February 9, 1928 Rowan County to the late Claude Smith and Florence Smith. Virginia was married to the late Stacy Maxwell. She worked in textiles and she was a member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church. Survivors include her son, Terry Maxwell (Brenda) of China Grove; a grandson, Brian Maxwell and his fiancé, Jessica of China Grove; a brother, Leroy Smith (Geraldine) of Enochville, NC; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and four sisters. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Merck officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to St. Enoch Lutheran Church, 701 Campbell Rd. Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to the Alzheimer's Association 3800 Shamrock Dr. Charlotte, NC 28215.
