Virginia Nall Sloop

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Virginia Nall Sloop, age 84, died Monday, December 31, 2012 at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, NC after a period of declining health. She was born September 4, 1928 in Pamplico, SC, the daughter of the late John Cleveland Nall and Juanita Gainey Nall. She had been a resident of the area since 1939. Virginia was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant #1, Finishing Dept. for 25 years until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC. She was fondly thought of by her family as a lady that had a sense of humor and enjoyed life. She especially loved caring for her cats. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Sloop who died in 2005; her sisters, Alma Jackson and May Belle Pless; her brothers, J.C. Nall, James Nall, and Kenneth Nall. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Leon Smith. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include two daughters, Connie Campbell & husband, Jimmy of Kannapolis, NC and Robin Hager & husband, Wayne of Salisbury, NC; two grandchildren, Lori Abernathy & husband, Mark and Phil Campbell, both of Kannapolis, NC; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Abernathy, Justin Campbell, and Kadie Campbell; and two sisters, Lois Setzer of Lowell, NC and Gladys Argo of Concord, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
