Virginia Kennedy Wright

Obituary: Mary Virginia Kennedy Wright, 87, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at CMC Northeast Medical Center. Mrs. Wright was born May 7, 1925 in Henderson County, Kentucky to the late Elbert Hawkins Kennedy and the late Dovie Cates Kennedy. Virginia retired from Cannon Mills; was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Kannapolis; was a former member of Colonial Garden Club, Clarice Women's Club, and was active in activities at the Y.M.C.A. Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Wright Clodfelter of Landis; two grandchildren, Heather Beaver of Landis, NC and Brandon Beaver and his wife, Holly of Denver, NC; a great grandson, Braxton Beaver; a great granddaughter, Blake Beaver; and a sister, Betty Simpson of Salisbury. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Matchette officiating. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12:30-2:00 P.M. Saturday prior to the service. Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church of Kannapolis, NC to 301 Bethpage Rd. Kannapolis, NC 28081.
