Wade P. Rowell

Obituary: Wade P. Rowell, age 82, went home peacefully to be with the Lord with family present on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Universal Healthcare, Concord, NC. He was born September 1, 1934 in Union County, NC, the son of the late Claude Jennings Rowell and Lillie Jane Wright Rowell. Wade was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Packaging Dept. and had worked for the company over forty years until retirement due to disability. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC where throughout the years he ushered and led the choir. He enjoyed getting up early in the mornings reading the Bible while drinking his coffee. His family fondly remembers his love of the outdoors especially fishing. He also loved watching NASCAR racing. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Rowell and Efird Rowell; and two sisters, Willene Jordan and Teva Simpson. The funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Revs. Terry Deitz and Alan Woodie. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Jackie Mills Rowell; two sons, Garry Rowell of China Grove, NC and Scott Rowell and wife, Carolyn of Kannapolis, NC; two grandchildren, Candace Miller of China Grove, NC and Hailey Mekebak of Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Madelyn, Isaiah, Gavin, and Athena.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
