Walter Lee Brown

August 24, 1931 — November 30, 2022

Walter Lee Alvin "Pete" Brown, 91 of Salisbury passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022 surrounded by his children. God granted his prayer to remain in his home where he raised his four children and made many memories with them, as well as his grandchildren and extended family. He was a loving caregiver to his wife of 56 years, Lillie Mae "Till" Griffin Brown, until her death in 2010.
He was born August 24, 1931 in Rowan County to the late Walter Lee and Mary Morris Brown. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 14 siblings and a son in-law, T.I. Honeycutt, Jr.
Survivors include his only remaining sibling, Hoyle Brown (Zenna) of Salisbury; his four children, Alvin Brown (Anne) of Sierra Vista, AZ, Wanda Honeycutt of Salisbury, Dawn Sellers (Wayne) of Kannapolis, and Johnnie Brown (Amy) of Salisbury; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Pete retired from the VA Medical Center in Salisbury after 40 years of service. He was a member of Phaniels Baptist Church.
A funeral service to honor Pete's life will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday Dec. 4, at Phaniels Baptist Church, 2685 Phaniel Church Rd. Rockwell, NC 28138. Rev. Michael Taylor will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be at the family's convenience.
The family requests memorials be made to Phaniels Baptist Church at the aforementioned address or Novant Health Hospice, 310 S. Main St. Suite 105, Salisbury, NC 28144.
