Obituary: Walter Robinson Jr., 85 of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013 at CMC-NE. His death follows an extended period of declining health. Mr. Robinson was born in York County, SC. on April 30, 1928 the son of the late Charles Walter and Nancy Barnes Robinson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Funeral services for Mr. Robinson will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Pastor Sam Crisp and Pastor Barbara Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with Cabarrus County Honor Guard providing military honors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Mr. Robinson was a supervisor at Cannon Mills for 40 years prior to retirement. He was Staff Sgt. in the medical corps. of the US Army serving during the Korean War and later served in the US Air Force reserve, and was a member of Kannapolis Church of God. He is survived by his wife, Syble Teigue Robinson of the home, a son; Timothy Walter Robinson and wife Bobra of Danville, VA. Daughters; Carol Anita Robinson Newsom and husband Larry of Middletown, RI., Judy Elaine Robinson Guinn and husband Nickie of Mooresville, and Patricia Ann Robinson Childers and husband Rowe of Kannapolis. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Adam and Bailey Robinson, Devon Wall, Megan Oliver, Madison Norris, Evangeline Claire Newsom, Jaime Davis, and Travis and Christopher Childers, 14 Great Grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
