Walter Junior Scarborough

Obituary: Walter Junior Scarborough, 84, of 1175 Hwy 153, China Grove, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011at CMC-Northeast. He has been in declining health and seriously ill for two weeks. He was born June 11, 1927 in Madison County, Ga. a son of the late James Oscar and Mary Moon Scarborough.Walter retired as a supervisor from Cannon Mills Plant #1 with 43 years of service. He was a charter member of Lane Street Church of God where he served as choir director for 25 years, pastor's council member for 50 years, Sunday school teacher and church trustee. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2011 at Living Water Church of God conducted by Rev. Wade Easom, pastor and Rev. E.L. Turner. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Carolina Memorial Park.Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Geraldine Chastain Scarborough, one son, Larry (Judy) Scarborough of Burlington, three sisters, Lucille Forrester, Evangeline Galloway and Mary Jane Beard all of Franklin County, Ga. Four grandchildren, Rodney Gene Barnhardt, Daniel Ray Barnhardt, Larry Scott Barnhardt, and Christinia Jo Ann Fisher, eleven great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Oscar, Eldridge and Jimmy Scarborough, and two sisters, Blondine Settlemyer, and Frances Forrester. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Living Water Church of God, 162 N. Little Texas Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
