Walterine Sarah Martin

Obituary: Walterine "Sarah" Slawson Martin, 83, of Salisbury went to her Heavenly Home on November 21, 2017 from The Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks after a period of declining health. Her funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 25 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with Dr. Dale Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, November 24. Sarah was born in Cabarrus Co. the daughter of the late W. H. and Lottie Youngblood Slawson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paris L. Martin and her brother Hugh Slawson. Sarah was a graduate of J. W. Cannon HS-'51 and Cabarrus Memorial Nursing School -'53. She was a former member of First Baptist Church - Kannapolis and a current member of N. Main Baptist Church where she was very active. Sarah retired after 45 years of nursing from the Salisbury VA Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Robert Kiser (Pat) of Madisonville KY, her stepsons; Jason Martin of Spencer, Mark Martin and Dean Martin, both of Croydon PA, her grandsons Dean Allen Martin and Charles E. Carpenter, 3 great grandchildren, her brother, W.M. Slawson of Goose Creek, SC and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
