Ward C. Rhodes

Obituary: Ward C. Rhodes, age 82, died Sunday, January 3, 2009 at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after several years of declining health. He was born July 2, 1927 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late John Walter Rhodes and Susan Rogers Rhodes. He was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt.#1 Distribution Dept. for 46 years until his retirement. He attended North Kannapolis Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II where he served in Panama. He was well loved by his family. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Millis Rhodes. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Chris O'Guin, Ray Harrington, Jr., & Rev. Bewey Shaver. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wrenn Harrington Rhodes; his daughter, Anne Rhodes Shuford & husband, John of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Graham Shuford and Kendall Shuford; his brother, John R. Rhodes & wife, Tillie of China Grove, NC.
