Obituary: Wayne Earl Hallman, age 71, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after several months of battling cancer. He was born December 11, 1944 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Graham Eugene Hallman and Osa Geneva Fink Hallman. Wayne was a 1963 graduate of South Rowan High School. Wayne was employed in airlines industry in reservations where he starting with the former Eastern Airlines and later Amadeus North American in Miami, Florida for many years until his retirement in 2008. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served from 1964 to 1968. In former years he attended West Point Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. He is remembered by family as loving to visit area thrift stores where he shopped for unusual things to collect. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Hallman; a brother-in-law, Simon Jolly; and a niece's husband, Hugh Hardy. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Chris Shelton and Rev. Carl Settle. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include James Hallman & wife, Betty of Kannapolis, NC; his sister, Mildred Hallman Jolly of Kannapolis, NC; four nephews, Charles Hallman, Hugh Hallman (Gayle), Michael Jolly, and Robert Jolly (Lisa); four nieces, Christine Perkins (Mike), Karen Hardy, Rhonda Jolly, and Carol Knickerbocker (Jim); great-nieces & nephews, Miranda Hallman, Jessica Hallman, Daniel Hallman (Kristin), Sam Hallman, and Harry Hallman, Kristi Perkins, Grace Perkins, Micah Perkins, Lindsey Hardy, Adam Hardy, Caleb Hilton, Derrick Lear (Beth), Christopher Austin, Ashley Overcash (Derrick), and Amy Therrell; great-great-nieces & nephews, Silas Austin, Cadance Whitten, Jayven Austin, Jayden Overcash, Della Rae Overcash, Serenity Therrell, Kadyn Lear, Eddie Lear, Holden Lear, Elora Suggs, Chandler Dean Tucker, Raylon McGalliard, Makenzi Hallman, Taylor Hallman, and Joel Reyes.
