Obituary: Wayne Asper Jones, age 52, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after battling Crohn's disease for many years. He was born September 5, 1961 in Mecklenburg County, NC, the son of James Asper Jones and Ruby Jeanette Prince Jones of Concord, NC. Wayne was a diesel mechanic for many years. His many hobbies included racing in the superstock division at Concord Motor Speedway and had also raced go-carts and lawnmowers. He is also remembered for riding motorcycles and enjoying barbecuing with family and friends. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Kenneth Burris. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the funeral home. Survivors in addition to his parents include his fiancée, Sherry Lee; a sister, Rhonda Denise Jones Benton & husband, Lonnie; a brother, Jeffery Scott (Scottie) Jones; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
