William "Bill" Smith Query

Obituary: William "Bill" Smith Query, 86, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Rowan Regional Medical Center. He was born August 25, 1925 in Alexander County, the son of the late John Wilson Query and Mary Smith Query. He was preceded in death by his wives, Eloise Lemmond Query and Geraldine Smith Query and his son, William Michael Query. He retired from Hoechst-Celanese in 1988 after working over 20 years. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WW II on board the USS Fowler. He was a member of West Point Baptist Church where he had been involved with the ministry of visiting the church shut-ins for many years and a member of the Forever Young Seniors group. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 20, 2012 at West Point Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Blair Bridle. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home. He is survived by his son, Larry Walton Query of Tennessee, two daughters, Tara Lyn Query and Debbi Joines (Ron) both of Kannapolis, a sister Mary Emma Turner of Taylorsville, three grandchildren Brandon Joines, Larry Fowler and Jonathan Query and three great-grandchildren.
