William Henry Bill Cantrell

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC - William Henry (Bill) Cantrell, 75, of Kannapolis died Wednesday April 15, 2009 at Big Elm Nursing Center. He was born February 21, 1934 in Gaston County, the son of the late Edgar Abraham Cantrell and Nellie Louise Ballard Cantrell. He was also predeceased by a brother, Phillip Cantrell. He retired from J. A. Jones Construction in Concord. He loved to play golf and surf fish on the North Carolina coast. He was a member of Westgate Masonic Lodge, Charlotte. He is survived by his wife Georgetta Young Cantrell, 3 sons: William Henry Cantrell Jr. and wife Donna of Matthews, Michael R. Cantrell and wife Kim of Concord, and Barry L. Cantrell and wife Pamela of Mint Hill, 5 grandchildren: William Henry Cantrell III, Christopher Thomas Cantrell, Andrew J. Cantrell, Mark C. Cantrell, and Allie Christian Cantrell, 2 sisters: Sarah Cloninger of Dallas, Dianne Lunsford of Shelby , 4 brothers: James Cantrell of Stanley, Harold Cantrell and David Cantrell both of Lincolnton, and Robert Cantrell of California. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday April 18, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel officiated by Rev. Larry Barden. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with Masonic graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel.
