William Carlyle Christie

William Carlyle "Bill" Christie, Jr., 68, of China Grove entered into eternal peace Friday, August 12, 2022 at Glen A. Kiser Hospice House after a period of declining health. Born November 8, 1953 in Iredell County, he was the son of the late William Carlyle Christie and Betty Blackmon Christie.
He was a 1972 graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School. Bill spent his working years at Duke Energy. He retired after forty years as a Contractor Specialist.
Bill enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball and University of North Carolina Tar Heel basketball. He also played golf at every opportunity, he had a love/hate relationship with the game. Bill treasured the many enduring friendships established while participating in the sport. The yearly golf trip with his golf buddies was a highly anticipated event and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. He also enjoyed NASCAR and anything associated with cars in general. His garage was a true "man cave" and it served as a refuge and source of contentment for him throughout the years.
The true friends Bill made through the game of golf, through his employment with Duke Energy and other pursuits were a source of comfort and support to him.
Those left to cherish Bill's memory include his wife, Andrea Daugherty Christie; a sister, Pam Holt and husband, Jim of Concord; a brother in - law, David Daugherty and wife Joyce of China Grove; nephews, James and Chase Daugherty and Christopher Holt and niece Sarah Holt.
Funeral services will be held to honor his life at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Lutheran Chapel Church, China Grove, NC. Rev. John Tucker will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church. There will be no public viewing.
