William Payne Bill Clement

Obituary: William Payne "Bill" Clement, 70, of Kannapolis died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011. He was born March 2, 1941 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Robert Henry Clement Jr. and the late Lucy Evelyn "Sue" Lowrance Clement. He retired from Duke Power, Charlotte in 1999. He was a 1959 graduate of A.L. Brown High school and a 1964 graduate of Western Carolina University. He was a member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church where he was involved in the Christian Fellowship Sunday school class. He was a member of the NC National Guard from 1964-70. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time at his house at Oak Island. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In earlier years, he was an assistant scout master with his son's Boy Scout Troop 36 and presently helped out with grandson's Cub Scout Pack 127. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at Jackson Park United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Neal Brower. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 prior in the church gymnatorium. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Melba Blanton Clement, 2 sons, Andrew Payne Clement and wife Shay of Davidson, and Jeffrey Payne Clement and partner Brian Repp of Atlanta, 3 grandchildren he adored, Laurel Dare Clement, Branson Kurtis Payne Clement and Morgan Shay Clement, and his twin brother, Phillip Wayne Clement and wife, Alice of China Grove.Memorials may be made to Jackson Park United Methodist Church, 715 Mable Ave., Kannapolis, NC 28083 or to the NC Council of the Boy Scouts of America, PO Box 250, Albemarle, NC 28002.
