William Dawson

Obituary: Concord, NC William "Bill" M. Dawson, 84, of Concord went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2013 while at CMC-NE, after a period of declining health. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 10 at Whitley's Annex Chapel with Rev. ________ officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Annex Chapel from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, prior to the funeral service. Bill was born March 5, 1929 in Mecklenburg Co., a son of the late Robert E. and Lauretta Maurer Dawson. He was a life-long area resident and veteran the US Army, serving during WWII. Bill retired from Magla Products in Huntersville in 1993. He enjoyed video recording movies off of TV and had a very large collection. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family at home. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Sonny and Frank. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Eloise Furr Dawson of the home, his sons, Scott Dawson (Kim) of Kannapolis, Billy Dawson (Angie) of San Jose, CA and Bob Dawson, Prudence of NC and his daughters; Lisa Newsome (John, Jr.) of Concord, Darlene Hensley (Ron) and Brenda Tolbert (Neal) of Waxhaw. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
