William John Grega

William John Grega, 91, of Concord gained his angel wings on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Bethany Woods in Albemarle following a slow decline in health.

He was born on August 27, 1933 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, son of the late John Francis Grega and Helen Elizabeth Fazekas Grega.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Nancy Jane Grega of Concord; four daughters: Sharon Ward and husband, Michael Ward of Burke, Virginia; Rosanne Broad and husband, Douglas Broad of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a stepdaughter, Melinda Couper and husband, Thomas Couper of Harrisburg, North Carolina; and a stepdaughter, Amy Kirschner and husband, Bryce Kirschner of Denton, Texas. He is also survived by a son, William John Grega Jr. and wife, Jennifer Grega of Hudson, Ohio and a sister-in-law, Barbara Verano of Fort Mill, South Carolina.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren: William John Grega III (Trey) and Gianna Grega of Hudson, Ohio; Heather Ward and husband, Sean Sowers of Springfield, Virginia; Brandon Ward of Alexandria, Virginia; Ella Couper of Harrisburg, North Carolina; Michael Broad of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Julianna Adelman of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is also survived by a great grandson, Rory Sowers of Springfield, Virginia.

A private family visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:00pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Services will follow at The Chapel in the Pines, 4125 Franklin Community Center Road, Salisbury, North Carolina 28144 at 2pm by the Reverend Mark Weathers. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Liberty Lane Hospice House, 1601 Brenner Avenue, Building 6- Room 1010-001-V, Salisbury, North Carolina 28144.
