Obituary: - William Alvin Hale, Jr. (Willie), age 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Big Elm Nursing Center, Kannapolis, NC. He was born April 7, 1926 in Fairfax, Alabama, the son of the late William Alvin Hale, Sr. and Janie Graves Hale. A graduate of J.W. Cannon High School, Kannapolis, NC, Willie later married his wife, the late Betty Hudson Hale on October 7, 1950. Willie was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, #6 Weave Room Weave Room for 43 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC. Willie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. His military affiliations included the V.F.W. Poston-Perkins Post 8989 where he had served as Junior Commander and the American Legion Beaver-Pittman Post 115. In addition to his parents and wife, Willie is preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Hale. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Kirk Tutterow. Military rites will be conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the graveside after the service. Survivors include his three sons, Barry S. Hale of Kannapolis, NC; Jeff A. Hale of Hickory, NC; and B. Dean Hale of Harrisburg, NC; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
