Obituary: Hallford, William Edward, Jr. William Edward Hallford, "Junior", 88, of Kannapolis went home to glory to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 23, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born December 12, 1929 in Columbus, GA to the late William (Bill) E. Hallford, Sr and the late Bertha Miller Hallford. In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by a son, Mark Hallford, a granddaughter, Jenna E. McLain and a son-in-law, Michael Rouse. Junior was employed as a shift supervisor with Cannon Mills Co., retiring in 1994 after 47 years of service. After his retirement, he worked at Whitley's Funeral Home from 94 until 2008. He attended Winecoff High School and at the age of 50, he received a degree equivalent to his GED thru RCCC. Junior was a respected church member at Shadybrook Baptist Church since 1945. He walked with God and loved his church where he was a deacon and held other positions and taught Sunday School. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother-in-law and was a good provider. Junior dearly loved to work in his garden and took pride in his tomatoes. He loved being outdoors, loved the mountains, the beach, loved camping and fishing and, loved to tinker and repair things. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 70 years, Mildred Sue Henderson Hallford of the residence, a son, Gregory William Hallford of Kannapolis, two daughters; Sheila H. McLain (Mike) of Concord and Deborah H. Rouse of Kannapolis, three grandchildren; Crystal Rouse of Huntersville, Amber Rouse of Kannapolis and Zachary McLain of Concord and a brother, Stanley Hallford (Betty) of Rockwell. The service for Mr. Hallford will take place at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Charlie Littlejohn. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 before the service at Whitley's.
