William Ethridge Harris

Obituary: William "Bill" Ethridge Harris, 86, of Charlotte passed away, Monday, October 23, 2017 at The Haven in the Village at Carolina Place. His funeral will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barbara Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. He was born May 20, 1931 in Cook Co. GA to the late John Archie Harris and Lucy Smith Harris. Bill was a proud Veteran serving with the Army and Air Force. He owned an Auto-Rite Store and later he also worked in the construction field as a manager. Bill was a professional photographer capturing life through the lens. He was preceded in death by a brother Irvin Harris, and a sister Doris Allman. Those left to cherish his memory, Bill's longtime companion Eleanor "Sissie" B. Spurlin of Charlotte, one daughter Brenda Waldroup (Michael) of Kannapolis, four grandchildren Jane Johnson (Jason Sr.) of Kannapolis, April Burks (Duane) of West Virginia, Katie Crosby (Erik) of Charlotte, Stephen Spurlin (Ronda) of Texas, three sisters Mildred Savage, Mary Lou Talley, Faye Hutto, and nine Great Grandchildren.
