Obituary: William (Bill) Young Link, 82, of Kannapolis died Monday March 29, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast. He was born July 7, 1927 in Rowan County, the son of the late Floyd Young Link and Sadie Idell Kepley Link. Veteran of WWII, he served 3 years in the Navy as a gunner on an LST and Destroyer. After an honorable discharge, Bill went to work at Rowan Dairy in 1947 as a route man. He served in various capacities from route salesman to route supervisor. He moved to Kannapolis in 1956 after being promoted to Manager of the Kannapolis Rowan Dairy. Bill was a member of the Kannapolis Jaycees / Kannapolis Rotary Club. He was with Rowan Dairy and Long Meadow Farms for 21 years until he purchased the Cabarrus County Dairy Queen franchise in 1967. He operated 3 Dairy Queen stores in Cabarrus County (Kannapolis, Concord, Harrisburg) until he retired. He is also owner of the Davidson County Dairy Queen franchise and co-owner of the Rowan County franchise. He has been associated with Dairy Queen for 43 years. He was a member of Kimball Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. Memorials may be made to the Building and Renovation Fund 101 Vance St. Kannapolis, NC 28081. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6pm-8pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11am at Kimball Lutheran Church with burial at Carolina Memorial Park.
