Obituary: China Grove, NC William Howard "Bill" McGuire, age 82, of China Grove died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 7 at Royal Oaks United Methodist Church with Rev. Jesse Rogers and Rev. Jimmy Holland officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The Family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Wednesday at the church, at other times they will be at the family home. "Bill" was born October 13, 1927 in Wilkes Co. the son of the late Dell M. McGuire and the late Frances Howell McGuire. He was a longtime area resident. Bill attended J. W. Cannon High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force during WWII. In early years he worked for Cannon Mills Comp. and then for Celanese/Fiber Industries until he retired in 1986. Bill had been an active member of Royal Oaks UMC for many years. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his 4 brothers and his 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Katherine T. McGuire of the family home, his step-son, Jim Ewing and wife, Linda of Concord, his step-grandson, Mark Ewing of China Grove, his step-great-granddaughter, Madison Ewing and several nieces and nephews.
