William "Dale" Dale Pethel, Jr.

Obituary: William Dale Pethel, Jr., age 73, died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a lengthy illness. He was born November 18, 1939 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the William Dale Pethel, Sr. and Margaret Deal Pethel. In earlier years Dale was employed with the former Linn-Corriher Mills, Landis, NC for forty years. In later years he worked as a security guard for Dillard's Warehouse in Salisbury, NC for a brief period. Dale was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. He is fondly remembered as an automotive man who enjoyed selling, showing, and working on cars over the years. He is affectionately known as a "street rodder" with a 1938 Plymouth that was dear to him. He enjoyed cruising, old music, and good food. Dale especially loved all of his grandchildren and spending time with them. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Myra Katherine Pethel; and his sister, Margaret Ann Menius. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Marler Starnes. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his son, Tony Pethel & wife, Peggy of Kannapolis, NC; and his sons, Nicholas & wife, Katie and Clinton Pethel of Kannapolis, NC; a daughter, Susan Miller & husband, Gary of Mullins, SC; and her daughter, Cortney Eller & husband, Justin of China Grove, NC; and son, Chris Julian & wife, Holly of Missouri; and ten great-grandchildren.
