Obituary: William Edward Robinette, 86, of Kannapolis went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Tucker Hospice House. He was born July 3, 1928 in Rowan County, the son of the late John Wesley Robinette and Dollie James Robinette. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Oscar, John, R.P., Roland and Arthur (Short) Robinette. He was also preceded by his beloved dog, Rudy. William retired from Cannon Mills after many years of service as an electrician. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served on the board of Deacons for many years. He was a Godly man that did a lot for the less fortunate throughout the years. He always taught his children that it was better to give than receive and to always be compassionate and caring to the less fortunate because you never knew the walk they had in life. William loved watching the Atlanta Braves and going to American Legion baseball games throughout the years. He was an avid Carolina Tarheel fan. He also loved geography, history and trips to the mountains. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Mike Hubbard. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 PM Sunday prior at Whitley's. He is survived by daughter, Robin Presson (Scott), son, Mark Robinette, 2 grandchildren, Lauren Presson and Sarah Robinette, and a sister, Colleen Wilhelm (Leonard). He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews who held a very special place in his heart.
