William “Lee” Rollings, 89, of Rockwell, formerly of Landis, died Saturday, May 2, 2020 at his home after a period of declining health.
A graveside service to celebrate Lee’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 5 at West Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Gene Beaver officiating.
Lee was born September 1, 1930 in Chesterfield Co. SC, a son of the late Henry E. and Lyndel Funderburk Rollings. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Daugherty Rollings, 2 brothers; Daniel Rollings and Henry Rollings, Jr. and 2 sisters; Mary Mechum and Mildred Davis.
Lee was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He attended Crown Point Baptist Church. In earlier years. He worked for Cannon Mills as a mill wright and also was well known as an auto body repairman, working out his own garage. He loved coffee and foot-long dogs from Gary’s BBQ. Lee enjoyed going to Holden Beach with his family and fishing from the Pier. He loved life and loved to make people laugh. Lee was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Lee will be remembered by his wife of 10 years, Eleanor Faye Strickland Rollings of the home, his daughters, Pam Wilkinson (Lynn) of Mt. Ulla, Tina Cline (Mark) of Kannapolis, step-daughters, Tracey Lynn Austin (Steve) of Kannapolis and Debra Ross of the home. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; James and Charles Rollings, both of TX and his sister, Sarah Schwarz of NC.
